Department of Quality Management System. The introduction process of Quality Management System (QMS) in Asfendiyarov Kazakh National  Medical  University (KazNMU) was initiated under the order № 191a of the Rector issued September 5, 2005 due to the implementation of the Concept for the development of management systems in the Republic of Kazakhstan by 2015.

In February 2010 by the order № 36 of the Rector were appointed the Representative of Quality Management and personnel responsible for QMS in each department. For the maintenance of effective interaction of all departments in QMS issues the Quality Council was established including all vice-rectors and the head of QMS department. In June 2010 the QMS department staff and internal auditors developed the Documented quality procedures approved by the order of the Rector. In November 2010 QMS department staff developed «The Guidance on Quality» approved by the order № 671 of the Rector.

In accordance with the objectives of the Development concept of medical and pharmaceutical education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2011-2015, KazNMU has certified all the activities in accordance with the International standard of ISO 9001:2008 (QMS, SGS Group, certificate valid until 2017). QMS of the University in 2012 was recognized as the best one among the QMSs of universities of all Caspian region and among organizations in Kazakhstan certified by SGS Group under the standard of ISO-9001. In 2013 KazNMU was awarded the People’s quality mark “Perfect” of the National League of Customers of Kazakhstan. In 2013 the department participated in the contest for the prize of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan «AltynSapa — 2013» in the category «Best services provider». December 20, 2013 at the Palace of Independence in Astana was held an awarding ceremony of the President’s Award «AltynSapa — 2013», which was attended by the Rector of the University, AikanAkanov. A commendation was received for active participation in the competition «AltynSapa».

Within 5 years over 50 internal auditors have been trained among teachers, administrative staff and students. Currently, 34 internal auditors at KazNMU support the QMS in all departments of the university.
