The Center for Social Support and Engagement is a structural unit of the Non-Profit Joint-Stock Company “S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University”, dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes students’ academic success, social well-being, personal development, and equal access to university opportunities.

The Center provides social support to students experiencing challenging life circumstances, promotes equal opportunities for all members of the university community, and coordinates activities related to social protection, support for students with special educational needs, and accommodation in university residence halls.

Our Mission

Our primary mission is to make the university environment more accessible, safe, inclusive, and supportive for every student.

We help students navigate social support services, provide assistance in addressing social and welfare-related concerns, and cooperate with university departments and external organizations to expand access to appropriate support and assistance.

Key Areas of Activity

Student Social Support

The Center provides advisory and organizational support to students from socially vulnerable groups, as well as students experiencing challenging life circumstances.

Within this area, the Center:

• provides consultations on available social support measures;
• reviews students’ requests and inquiries related to social issues;
• assists students with the preparation and submission of required documents;
• coordinates matters related to financial assistance in accordance with established procedures;
• cooperates with relevant university departments on student social protection matters;
• supports the protection of students’ social rights and legitimate interests.

Support for Students with Special Needs

We are committed to fostering an inclusive educational environment where every student has an equal opportunity to fully participate in the academic and university community.

The Center provides assistance to students with disabilities and special educational needs and contributes to addressing issues related to creating appropriate conditions for their education, participation, and social integration.

Key areas include:

• providing consultations on social support services;
• facilitating accessibility within the educational environment;
• cooperating with relevant university departments;
• coordinating matters related to students’ individual needs;
• working with specialized organizations and professionals.

Psychological and Social Support

University life may involve various emotional, social, and personal challenges. In such situations, timely access to appropriate support is essential.

The Center facilitates access to psychological and social support services for students and contributes to initiatives aimed at preventing negative social phenomena and promoting a healthy, safe, and supportive university environment.

Our work focuses on:

• supporting students’ emotional and social well-being;
• preventing negative social phenomena;
• promoting students’ social adaptation and integration;
• raising awareness of available support services;
• cooperating with specialists and relevant support services.

Engagement with External Organizations

To enhance the effectiveness and accessibility of social support, the Center cooperates with government agencies, social protection organizations, non-governmental and public organizations, and other external partners.

Such cooperation helps expand opportunities for students to access social, advisory, and other forms of assistance and support.

Student Residence Hall Accommodation

An important area of the Center’s work is coordinating the allocation of places in university residence halls.

The Center is responsible for:

• receiving and reviewing applications for residence hall accommodation;
• allocating residence hall places in accordance with established procedures;
• providing students with consultations regarding accommodation;
• coordinating with residence hall administrators and responsible staff;
• reviewing students’ requests and concerns related to accommodation.

Who We Support

The Center is open to all KazNMU students who require consultation, guidance, or assistance regarding social support matters.

We provide support to:

• students experiencing challenging life circumstances;
• students from socially vulnerable groups;
• students with disabilities and special educational needs;
• orphans and children deprived of parental care;
• students in need of financial assistance;
• students seeking assistance with residence hall accommodation;
• students who require social or psychological support.

Financial Assistance

The University provides various forms of social support for students, including consideration of applications for financial assistance in accordance with applicable regulations and established procedures.

Information regarding application deadlines, required documents, and the application process is published on the University’s official website and communicated to students through the appropriate channels.
