The Science Foundation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of the Kazakh National Medical University named after S. D. Asfendiyarov organized a dialogue platform on the integration of science and business — “Medtech Reactor for technology commercialization”.
Within the framework of the event, 8 new projects in the field of medical science and pharmaceutical industry developed by scientists of Kazakhstan universities and research institutes were presented. The main purpose of the presentations was to establish partnerships for the subsequent commercialization of developments, as well as to participate in the competition for grants of JSC “Science Foundation” in the amount of up to 350 million tenge.

Begasilev Berik Serikovich, project manager, Financial Director of “Neo Milk” LLP, together with the head of the Department Diyas Myrzakozha presented a nutraceutical product to support health in diabetes mellitus. The product is a biologically active supplement (BAA) developed on the basis of natural ingredients, aimed at improving the quality of life of people suffering from diabetes.
Lilia N. Ibragimova, Head of the Center of Pharmacy and Pharmacology КазНМУof S. D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU, presented the development of a new probiotic pharmaceutical product based on the Lactobacillus paracasei strain — one of the most promising and clinically studied probiotic microorganisms. The product is designed to restore the gut microbiota, strengthen the immune system and improve overall well-being. The target audience ranges from adults who lead an active lifestyle to children over 6 years old.
Lilia Nikolaevna also presented two more projects:

The goal of the project is to develop an original herbal balm with antiviral and healing effects:
- Production technology development and validation;
- Registration of the product as a perfume and cosmetic product;
- Production of 217,000 packages within two years;
- Organization of sales through pharmacy chains and online stores;
- Promotion through social networks.
Active ingredients: Melissa officinalis extract, black cumin oil.
Action: antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and healing properties.
Peculiarities:
- Safe for long-term use.
- Unique formula without analogues among natural cosmetics;
- Extended action.
- pH-balanced formula.
- Dual action: virus blocking and skin repair.
Scientific novelty: for the first time, an original formulation was developed and the production technology of phytobalzam with plant extracts with a pronounced antiviral effect was optimized.
- Oleogel for atopic dermatitis
The goal is to commercialize a therapeutic and cosmetic oleogel for the treatment and prevention of atopic dermatitis.
Project objectives:
- Scaling of production technology;
- Registration as a perfume and cosmetic product;
- Development of a business model and marketing strategy;
- Production of 120,000 packages within one year;
- Sales via pharmacies and online platforms, promotion in social networks.
Uniqueness: the original formula provides a long-lasting therapeutic effect with minimal risk of allergic reactions, surpassing analogues in terms of safety and comfort of use.
АшурбековаKamilla Ashurbekova, resident doctor, allergist-immunologist КазНМУof S. D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU, presented the project of the mobile application “A-Skin” for monitoring and managing atopic dermatitis.
The goal of the project is to introduce a digital tool for patients and doctors.
Tasks:
- Testing MVP with basic functionality.
- Clinical validation with the participation of the target audience;
- Integration with medical professionals and pharmaceutical companies;
- Development and implementation of a marketing strategy;
- Monetization through subscriptions and affiliate programs.
Амирханова Akerke Shiynkulovna Amirkhanova, Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmaceutical TechnologyКазНМУof S. D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU, presented the project “Organization of gel production with pharmaceutical plant substance”..
The goal is to develop and implement the technology of gel production based on vegetable raw materials Tukti sarshatyr (Hieracium pilosella L.).
Main directions of the project:
- Development and standardization of gel transportation and production technology;
- Entering the market and organizing sales of wholesale lots;
- Promotion of export-oriented products.
Target audience: patients with chronic diseases, people who lead an active lifestyle, the elderly, as well as people with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Bagay Nazarbayuly, a scientist from MUAБағай Назарбайұлы, presented the project”BeeFito Oil” —a natural therapeutic and preventive ointment; “BeeFly” – a harmless health drink based on natural ingredients.
The project is aimed at creating a small — scale production of safe and natural products-BeeFito BeeFito Oil ointmentand BeeFly drinkBeeFly, which have anti-inflammatory, analgesic and immunomodulatory effects, with proven pharmacological effectiveness, registered in the scientific and technical information system of the Republic of Kazakhstan and protected by patents No. 9834 and No. 9835.
An economically viable project with high market attractiveness includes the productionBeeFito of BeeFito Oil ointment(cost of 30,000 tg/ kg, wholesale price of 60,000 tg/kg) and BeeFly drinkBeeFly(cost of 400 tg/ l, wholesale price of 700 tg/ L) with a potential market volume of $1.176 million each, sold through pharmacies, supermarkets and online stores based on the model of wholesale and retail sales with active promotion in social networks, with the participation of a qualified team and an open offer for investors on the terms of equity participation( up to 30% of the profit) and the possibility of using ready-made production facilities.
KazDiagnost, anKazDiagnostintelligent software for primary diagnosticsdeveloped under the leadership of Arman ZhanasovichZharylkasynov, is aimed at implementation in 30 medical institutions of Kazakhstan within 5 years in order to automate primary diagnostics and achieve revenue of at least 150 million tenge per year.
Solving the problem of a shortage of narrow specialists and a high probability of errors at the primary diagnosis stage, KazDiagnost-the first AI system in primary health care based on the protocols of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and machine learning algorithms, allows doctors to analyze patient data, form a preliminary diagnosis and recommend necessary studies.
The product is at the TRL-6 maturity level and is undergoing pilot testing on the basis of the M. OspanovZKMU, covering 15 nosologies, with already registered software (certificate No. 47215) and two interfaces-for the doctor and patient.
The potential market is estimated at 1.95 billion tenge (TAM), with an achievable segment of 150 million tenge (SOM) covering more than 5,600 primary care facilities in Kazakhstan and the prospect of entering the CIS markets.
The monetization model is based on B2B SaaSsales with the possibility of subscription, installation with support and participation in public procurement; the cost of implementation in a large clinic is about 5 million tenge, with profitability by the third year (expected net profit is 130 million tenge per year).
The project team consists of Zharylkasynov A. Zh. (developer), Temirova G. K. (data analyst), Lukpanova S. M. (project manager) and Kadyrov Zh.Zh. (tester), who are open to partnership with IT integrators and investors on the terms of equity participation or profit sharing (15-20%).
