The Department of Communication Skills of the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov within the framework of FOR21 held the IX international scientific and practical conference on “Actual problems of communication skills, psychology and social work in medicine: from theory to practice” on May 05-06, 2022 in Almaty (Kazakhstan) The conference is organized by the Department of Communication Skills. The following issues were discussed in three directions during the conference:
I. Medical psychology
2. Psychohygiena and psychoprophylaxis of mental health.
3. Psychological assistance in the education system.
II. Communication skills
2. Communication skills: from theory to practice.
3. Development of communication skills among doctors of various specialties.
III. Social work
2. Features of social work with various groups of the population.
3. Social work with teenagers. During the discussion, the following issues were actualized:
Psychological issues of media communication during the Covid-19 pandemic: feedback from medical professionals and pharmacists.
Improving communication skills in the educational process and in the clinic.
• Complexity theory: its impact on teaching and learning communication skills.
• Mental and social functioning in the context of the pandemic crisis in Bulgaria: the results of the study.
• The phenomenon of procrastination — mechanisms of development and methods of psychotherapy.
• Features of communication between social workers and the elderly during home care.
• Problems and prospects of development of the “Union of Medical Psychology and Social Protection” in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The conference was attended by more than 165 participants from different universities in Kazakhstan, as well as partners from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (Greece), University of Leeds (UK), KMU and Uzbekistan, Germany.
