BERNICA Study Tour Graz Austria

A Study tour trip took place in the city of Graz, Austria starting April 15 to 19, 2024, as part of the Erasmus+ Project 101082831 – BERNICA – ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE «Building Educational and Research Capacities in Nutrition and Dietetics in Central Asia.» Participation from representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan were present in the tour.

The delegation from S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University was led by the project coordinator, Professor of the Department of Public Health, Dr. Toguzbayeva K.K. The team included trainer and Assistant of the Department of Biostatistics and Fundamentals of Scientific Research, Khojamkul R.A., Associate Professor of the Department of Nutrition, Beisbekova A.K, and the Chief Researcher of the Center for medicine and public health KazNMU, Zhumagaliuly A.

The event commenced with an opening address by PhD Manuela Konrad, who introduced the participants to FH JOANNEUM. The tour also included welcoming remarks from the Managing Director of Research at FH JOANNEUM, FH-Prof. Dr.mont. Corinna Engelhardt-Nowitzki, and the Director of the Institute of Dietetics at FH JOANNEUM. Their presentations outlined strategic goals, scientific projects, and educational programs. Participants had the opportunity to visit various laboratories such as the Health Perception Lab, Food Processing Lab, and Sport Science Lab, engage in dialogue with leading specialists, and exchange experiences. During the workshops, topics discussed included working in interdisciplinary and multicultural groups, training on the MOOC platform, and participation in a cultural interaction game with FH JOANNEUM students. The visit included a tour of the university campuses and concluded with a formal ceremony awarding certificates to the participants and discussions on integrating the developed courses into their respective institutions.
