An introductory trip took place in Istanbul, Turkey from November 6 to 10, 2023, as part of the Erasmus+ Project 101082831 – BERNICA – ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE «Building Educational and Research Capacities in Nutrition and Dietetics in Central Asia.»
Organized for representatives from Kazakhstan (Kazakh National Medical University named after Asfendiyarov, Karaganda Medical University,), Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, the tour was primarily coordinated by the team from Istanbul Medipol University. The Kazakh delegation, led by the project’s national coordinator, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Karlygash Toguzbaeva, Trainer — Dean of the School of Public Health Karibaev K.B, Trainer — Chief Specialist of the Department of Science Zhumagaliuly A.
The welcome address at Istanbul Medipol University was delivered by Assoc. Prof., Dr. Indrani Kalkan, who familiarized participants with the university’s infrastructure. During the meeting, topics such as scientific research in nutrition and dietetics, project and patent development, thesis composition, syllabus construction, and biostatistical research methods were also discussed.
Representatives had the opportunity to contribute to the development of modules for diploma and postgraduate education. Additionally, participants visited the university’s north and south campuses, the clinic of Istanbul Medipol University, and explored the facilities and capabilities of these university departments. The event concluded with a ceremonial certificate presentation to participants and a discussion on upcoming project-related activities.
